"Sensing, Feeling, & Being: Basic (Belly) Dance Movement"
5-week summer class
Dates: Wednesday's June 7 - July 12 (NO CLASS JUNE 28)

I am very excited to offer this unique experiential 5-week summer class! Heads up, this is not a traditional belly dance class. Rather, it offers a very specific focus on the basic (belly) dance experience of sensing, feeling, and being, at both the individual and group level. This class combines three major movement approaches: 1) Suhaila Salimpour's belly dance technique, 2) Rasabox theatre technique, and 3) Barbara Mettler's creative dance and group improvisation approach.
Each week will focus on a different aspects of basic (belly) dance experience and expression.
Week 1: Language of Movement
Week 2: Body as Instrument of Feeling
Week 3: Following Form
Week 4: Movement Qualities
Week 5: Elemental Movement
Guided activities that encourage improvisational movement solo, in duets, and with the group will be offered in every class. Lessons on specific belly dance movements will be offered in every class. Students will be asked to engage with, embody, and express a range of emotions through movement. This class is open to ALL levels. This means if you are a total beginner, you will do great. Or, if you have years of dance experience, you will still learn many new things. new things.
All classes taught by Kandice Grossman, Level 4 certified in the Suhaila Salimpour School of Dance, 20 years teaching and performing experience.
